Kanishka’s represents inspiration from my 11 year old son. The “gastropub” cuisine incorporates global inspired concepts with Neo-Indian flavors which draws influences from stories of my life since childhood. My grandfather’s tales and takes of authentic Bengali recipes, nostalgic flavors from Indian railway platforms, famed street foods from my hometown Kolkata neighborhood corners and cafes, southern flavors from New Orleans French Quarters, European epicure from the streets and squares of Venezia, Catalonian and Basque flavors of Barcelona, haute gourmet of Rio De Janiero, rustic organic Costa Rican cuisine and many more global culinary travels and adventures have contributed to my cuisine, I feature at Kanishka’s.
Kanishka’s Gastropub is an upscale neighborhood gastropub in the main downtown area of Walnut Creek that sets the standard in innovative Indian influenced global cuisine paired with craft beers and selected wines. The menu will be served as “small shareable” plates in an ambient and social trendy setting. We feature a seasonal gastro menu with changing Chef’s muse items and Vegan selections to excite your culinary experience further. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will guide you through the gastropub’s beer, wine and food offering. The Chef promotes low-sodium cuisine without sacrificing the flavors and will be introducing heart healthy, “no-added salt” menu items to cater to appropriate customers.
Executive Chef/Owner Paramita Roy is highly focused on using fresh seafood and produce, sustainable ingredients, whenever possible and farm-raised meats. Her “provocative” changing menu will provide suggested pairings with craft beers and wines designed by David Forer, our Wine and Beer Program Director.
